Introduction to Labiaplasty Surgery
Labiaplasty is a procedure that many women choose to undergo to enhance or improve the appearance of their genitalia. It is one of the fastest growing trends in cosmetic surgery today.
Labiaplasty is a procedure that Dr. Pautler can perform to reduce the size of the inner lips of the vulva. For most women, the protrusion of the inner lips of the vulva, or labia minora, is a congenital variation in their anatomy. Even though many women have protruding labia minora, for some, it is a problem they wish to have corrected. Some women can be self-conscious while wearing thongs, bikini bottoms or other clothing. In some cases, women with elongated labia minor can suffer from discomfort during their everyday activities and it can also interfere with sexual activity.

About Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty Candidates
If you are unhappy with a protruding labia minora, you may be a candidate for this procedure. Dr. Pautler can help to improve your appearance in this area.
More and more women are getting a labiaplasty. Even teenagers! Why such an increase in a procedure that 20 years ago was much unheard of? Maybe it’s the fashion dominated by athletic and yoga wear. Or social media that allows trends and news to spread very quickly. Whatever the cause, it’s a procedure that Dr. Simona V. Pautler is very comfortable with. Dr. Pautler can address not only the labia but also the clitoral hood and the surrounding area (labia majora).
Dr. Pautler performs the labiaplasty procedure under local anesthesia at our plastic surgery center, so no embarrassing trips to the hospital or surgery center. Recovery is pretty quick, and most patients can return to most regular activities (except riding a bike!) in a few weeks.
Patients who are interested in this procedure should be in good health and should also have realistic expectations. Patients who are still recovering from major surgery are advised to wait until they are fully healed.
Your Consultation
Patients interested in getting a labiaplasty must schedule a consultation. The target area will be examined to determine the best way to achieve the patient’s goals. Their medical records will also be discussed to ensure that the patient is healthy enough for vaginal rejuvenation.
Labiaplasty Aftercare
Following a labiaplasty, patients can expect tenderness and mild discomfort around the affected area. They will be advised to rest as much as possible during the recovery period, which should last around one to two weeks. Ice packs can be applied to the affected area to reduce swelling.
Patients can safely resume sexual activity between 6 to 12 weeks following the procedure. However, this will be dependent on the patient’s preference. There may also be residual numbness over the next few weeks.
The best way to learn how a Labiaplasty can help fulfill your personal goals is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Pautler.
